NEW YORK — Former Falconbridge Ltd. chief executive officer and chairman Alex Balogh has joined the advisory board of North American Nickel Inc.

Balogh formerly served as deputy chairman of Noranda Inc. and chief executive officer of Noranda Minerals Inc., and has sat on the boards of 15 listed companies.

“As we plan for success in 2013 at our 100-percent owned nickel-copper-cobalt-PGM sulfide Maniitsoq project in southwest Greenland, (Balogh’s) years of worldwide mining experience will assist us in all aspects of developing a new nickel camp,” North American Nickel chief executive officer Rick Mark said in a statement.

The Vancouver-based mining company also owns properties in Sudbury, Ontario, and Thompson, Manitoba.
