NEW YORK — MRC Global Inc. is turning its focus on Iraq, entering an agreement under which North America Western Asia Holdings LLC (Nawah) will sell its pipe, valve and fitting (PVF) products in the country.

"Iraq is a natural focus area for us and for our customers. With some of the world’s greatest energy reserves, (the country) will continue to grow at a record pace," chairman, president and chief executive officer Andrew Lane said in a statement.

Nawah will open a sales office and service center in Basra, close to some of the country’s most important oil and gas fields, where it will distribute MRC’s products, the Houston-based company said.

"With this new facility, the country’s energy companies will no longer have to wait weeks or months for critical equipment to be shipped in from the other side of the world," Nawah president and chief executive officer Paul A. Brinkley said.

Nawah, an investment vehicle for Iraq and the broader region, was formed by Brinkley and Thomas J. Pritzker, chairman and chief executive officer of Chicago-based investment firm Pritzker Organization.

MRC is the world’s largest supplier of PVF and related products and services to the energy industry by sales, according to its website.
