Mexico’s steel output up in Feb.

MEXICO CITY — Crude steel output in Mexico totaled 1.54 million tonnes in February, up 11 percent from the same month in 2012, according to figures from Latin American steel association Alacero.

Mexico’s finished steel output increased 8 percent year on year to 1.38 million tonnes in February.

The country produced 680,000 tonnes of long steel products for the month, 620,000 tonnes of flat-rolled steel products and 81,000 tonnes of seamless tubes, according to Alacero.
