NEW YORK CC Metals & Alloys LLC (CCMA) is stepping up its ferrosilicon output in response to rising demand.
"The company is increasing its production of a requested grade of ferrosilicon to meet customer demand," a company spokesman told AMM via e-mail.
However, the spokesman shot down market speculation that the company would be switching its furnaces to step up production of the requested grade.
"CC Metals & Alloys has the capacity to produce different grades of ferrosilicon and has no immediate plans to modify its furnaces," he said.
The Calvert City, Ky.-based company made the move at a time when tight supply has pushed prices for commodity-grade ferrosilicon higher (amm.com, March 22).
CCMA primarily makes high-purity ferrosilicon for the steel industry and specialty ferroalloys for the foundry industry.
CC Metals & Alloys LLC is not related to Buffalo, N.Y.-based trading company CCMA LLC.
