imports of steelmaking raw materials fell further in February
amid a shorter month due to the Chinese New Year holiday.
China imported 56.42 million
tonnes of iron ore in February, down 13.9 percent from January,
as arrivals from largest supplier Australia fell 22.2 percent,
Chinese customs data show.
Coking coal imports fell 24.5
percent to 5.4 million tonnes, and ferrous scrap imports fell
17.1 percent to 406,287 tonnes in February as higher offshore
offers led buyers to curb imports.
Shipments from Japan fell 4.8 percent to nearly 250,112
tonnes during the month; that figure was offset by a
56.9-percent jump in deliveries from the United States to
