LOS ANGELES — A published price hike next month on wide-flange steel beams has become effectively unanimous as Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) has followed other producers with a $25-per-ton boost.

SDI’s Columbia City, Ind.-based structural and rail division notified customers in a March 22 letter that it will raise the f.o.b. mill price on core beam sizes to $805 per ton ($40.25 per hundredweight) from a current $780 per ton ($39 per cwt), effective April 1.

This follows similar announcements by all other major domestic beam producers (amm.com, March 14).
