Mitsui's Sato appointed to Sims Metal Management board

NEW YORK — Sims Metal Management Ltd. has appointed Tamotsu Sato to serve on its board of directors, replacing Makoto Paul Sukagawa, who retired April 1, the company said April 2.

Sato, who was nominated by Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co. Ltd., will serve as a nonexecutive director and will stand for election at the recycling company’s annual general meeting later this year.

Sato has held various positions at Mitsui, including executive director of Mitsui Coal Holdings Pty Ltd., senior vice president of Mitsui Singapore, and president and chief executive officer of Mitsui Raw Materials Development Pty Ltd., board chairman Geoff Brunsdon said.
