NEW YORK — An employee of AK Steel Corp. suffered burns in an April 7 accident at the steelmaker’s Middletown, Ohio, facility.

The employee was injured during preparations for maintenance repair work at the plant’s steelmaking shop, a spokesman for West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel told AMM, noting that production at the site has not been affected.

"The employee was transported to the burn unit of Miami Valley Hospital (in Dayton). The cause of the accident is under investigation by AK Steel," the spokesman said. "There were no other injuries and there was no impact to production."

No further details were available, he said.
