NEW YORK — Trevali Mining Corp. has completed construction of its Santander zinc-lead-silver mine in Peru, despite challenging weather conditions in the Andes.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company expects to ramp up production by the middle of the year.

"With phased, dry commissioning under way and based on the most recent site schedule, the company anticipates wet commissioning to commence over the upcoming weeks and continues to maintain its late-second-quarter guidance to ramp up to full nameplate production of 2,000 tonnes per day," Trevali said.

Trevali also owns the Caribou Mine and the Halfmile Mine in New Brunswick. The company began production at Halfmile in 2012, and expects to begin production at Caribou later this year.
