SÃO PAULO — Brazil’s ArcelorMittal Tubarão has not yet decided on a restart date for its 2.8-million-tonne-per-year No. 3 blast furnace in southeastern Espírito Santo state, as work is still being carried out on the furnace, the steelmaker told AMM sister publication Steel First.

“Once the revamp is concluded, the company will evaluate an opportune time to relight the furnace if improvement perspectives for the global market are verified,” it said.

ArcelorMittal Tubarão, part of Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal SA, idled the furnace for maintenance in November.
