PITTSBURGH — The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries has awarded Arnold Gene Gachman the ISRI Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gachman, president of Fort Worth, Texas-based Gachman Metals & Recycling Co., was recognized for his dedication to the recycling industry and his leadership of the Washington-based trade association.

"Throughout his career, Arnold Gachman has proven (to) be a wonderful leader for the scrap recycling industry, (and) his generosity, ability to teach others and willingness to learn have helped set our industry’s course for decades to come," ISRI president Robin Wiener said.

Gachman entered the family business in 1969 and became president of the company in 1974. He also became ISRI’s third president in 1992.

"I was fortunate enough to have the influence of many people that helped guide me and make me a better person and professional," Gachman said. "That is one of the many benefits of ISRI. It is the relationships that are formed."
