NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. is increasing base prices for all 200-, 300- and 400-series flat-rolled stainless steel products effective with May 6 shipments.

The West Chester, Ohio-based company said the increase will be achieved through a reduction in the functional discount of two percentage points on cold-rolled and hot-rolled non-automotive exhaust products. Base prices for automotive exhaust grades will increase by 3 cents per pound effective with June 3 shipments.

ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp., a subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc., recently announced that it would also be raising prices on several of its stainless steel products effective May 6 (amm.com, April 9).
