Finance chief joins Superior board

CHICAGO — Aluminum wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International Inc. has named executive vice president and chief financial officer Kerry A. Shiba to its board of directors.

Shiba fills a vacancy that expires in 2014. His appointment will give the board more time to find an independent director, the Van Nuys, Calif.-based company said.

The move comes as the company is engaged in a proxy fight and as it looks to spend $125 million to $135 million on a new plant in Mexico (, March 1).

Superior, which operates five plants in the United States and Mexico, says that it is North America’s largest manufacturer of aluminum wheels for light cars and trucks.
