LONDON — Finnish steel producer Rautaruukki Oyj (Ruukki) has opened sales offices in Toronto and Santiago, Chile, the company said April 23.

"The growing construction and mining industries in this market area are increasing demand for special steel products," Ruukki Americas vice president Josu Piña said in a statement.

The company will sell high-strength and wear-resistant steels from both offices.

Ruukki’s high-strength steel is called Optim and its wear-resistant steel is called Raex. Both can be used in heavy transport vehicles.

"Use of special steel products (in vehicles) can reduce weight and significantly cut fuel costs and CO2 emissions," Ruukki said.
