NEW YORK Aurubis Buffalo
Inc. will increase its fabrication charges by 6 percent on all
copper and copper alloy sheet and strip products effective with
deliveries July 1.
Thin-gauge and plated products
will receive an additional charge depending on the cost of
production, the Buffalo, N.Y.-based division of Germanys
Aurubis AG told AMM.
"This price increase is required
to offset inflationary costs of labor, health care,
transportation, supplies and services at the Buffalo
manufacturing plant," the company said.
Aurubis price increase
comes just a week after GBC Metals LLC, part of Olin Brass
Inc., introduced its own price hike for light-gauge,
narrow-width and specialty-finish products (
amm.com, April 15).
Although Olin Brass maintains
that a price increase for these products was long overdue,
service centers that the move was a bit premature for the
industry, which has been stagnant for the past four years (
amm.com, April 19).
