NEW YORK Tenaris SA plans
to build a $70-million sucker rod mill with a production
capacity of 1.8 million units near the companys welded
operations in Conroe, Texas.
The facility, expected to employ
about 200 people once fully operational, will include
non-destructive testing, forging lines, heat treatment,
threading and finishing processes, a coupling shop and a
centralizer line, the company said May 3. Start-up is expected
in the second semester of 2014.
"We are committed to enhancing our service and strengthening
our local supply for oil and gas companies throughout North
America," Alejandro Levrino, the Luxembourg-based
companys sucker rods director, said in a statement.
