SÃO PAULO Gerdau SA is planning a June start-up for its 770,000-tonne-per-year hot-strip mill in Brazil after repeated delays, chief executive officer André Gerdau Johannpeter said.
The rolling mill, which is being installed at the Porto Alegre, Brazil-based companys Açominas steelworks, was first expected to come onstream in December 2012 or January 2013 (amm.com, Nov. 2). That was later pushed back to the first quarter of 2013.
Shipments of hot-rolled coil are expected to begin in July, Johannpeter said.
