SÃO PAULO Gerdau
SA is planning a June start-up for its 770,000-tonne-per-year
hot-strip mill in Brazil after repeated delays, chief executive
officer André Gerdau Johannpeter said.
The rolling mill, which is being
installed at the Porto Alegre, Brazil-based companys
Açominas steelworks, was first expected to come onstream
in December 2012 or January 2013 (
amm.com, Nov. 2). That was later pushed back to
the first quarter of 2013.
Shipments of hot-rolled coil are
expected to begin in July, Johannpeter said.
