CHICAGO Globe Specialty Metals Inc. has appointed Joseph Ragan as its new chief financial officer effective May 20.
Ragan replaces Malcolm Appelbaum, whose departure was announced in March (amm.com, March 21).
Ragan most recently served as chief financial officer of South Jordan, Utah-based drilling services contractor Boart Longyear, Globe said. He previously held the same role at Herndon, Va.-based technology services provider GTSI Corp.
"Joe will lead the companys efforts to effectively deploy the companys cash flow in value-creating ways," Jeff Bradley, chief executive officer of the New York-based silicon metal producer, said in a statement May 13.
