SDI lowering SBQ surcharge, adjusting alloy extras

CHICAGO — Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) will lower its scrap surcharge on special bar quality (SBQ) products rolled at its Pittsboro, Ind., mill by $1 per hundredweight ($20 per ton) effective June 1.

The surcharge will be $12.77 per cwt ($255.33 per ton), Fort Wayne, Ind.-based SDI told customers May 13.

SDI also will adjust alloy surcharges June 1. Low-carbon ferrochrome will be at $1.84 per pound, down 6 cents; high-carbon ferrochrome will at 70 cents, off 4 cents; ferromolybdenum at $9.71, up 15 cents; nickel at $3.94, down 55 cents; ferrovanadium at $9.18, off $1.50 per pound; and high-carbon ferromanganese at 11 cents per cwt, off 1 cent.
