CHICAGO — Sandmeyer Steel Co. sales manager William Laverty Jr. has retired from the stainless steel and nickel alloy plate processor.

Laverty joined Philadelphia-based Sandmeyer Steel in 1964. He later managed the northern New Jersey sales territory for many years before taking over the Southeast territory in 1994.

Sean Fenerty has assumed responsibility for the Southeast territory, servicing customers in Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

"Bill’s experience and his relationships with so many key customers made him a valuable member of the Sandmeyer team for almost 50 years," president and chief executive officer Ronald Sandmeyer Jr. said in a statement.
