ATI, AK Steel, NAS lower stainless steel surcharges

NEW YORK — ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp., AK Steel Corp. and North American Stainless Inc. (NAS) have lowered their surcharges on most stainless steel grades for June.

Ludlum, a division of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc., set its June surcharges at 68.51 cents per pound for Type 304 material, down 7.5 percent from 74.06 cents in May; 45.79 cents per pound for Type 201, down 6.7 percent from 49.06 cents; and 97.6 cents per pound for Type 316, down 6.2 percent from $1.0407 per pound. Its surcharge for Type 430 material, which contains no nickel, has been set at 21.51 cents per pound, down 4.5 percent from 22.53 cents in May.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel set its June surcharges at 68.56 cents per pound for Type 304, down 7.4 percent from 74.04 cents in May; 46.45 cents per pound for Type 201, down 6.6 percent from 49.72 cents; 97.79 cents per pound for Type 316, down 5.9 percent from $1.0395; and 21.58 cents per pound for Type 430, down 4.3 percent from 22.54 cents.

Ghent, Ky.-based NAS lowered its June surcharges by similar amounts, with Type 304 down 7.4 percent to 68.58 cents per pound from 74.06 cents in May; Type 201 down 6.6 percent to 45.15 cents per pound from 48.33 cents; Type 316 down 6.2 percent to 97.66 cents per pound from $1.0408; and Type 430 down 4.2 percent to 21.58 cents per pound from 22.53 cents.
