Outokumpu cuts stainless surcharges for June

NEW YORK — Outokumpu Stainless USA LLC has lowered its surcharges on most stainless steel grades for June.

The Calvert, Ala.-based company set its June surcharges at 68.59 cents per pound for Type 304, down 7.4 percent from 74.06 cents in May; 45.49 cents per pound for Type 201, down 6.6 percent from 48.7 cents; and 97.7 cents per pound for Type 316, down 6.2 percent from $1.0414 per pound a month earlier.

The company’s surcharge for Type 430 material, which contains no nickel, has been set at 21.58 cents per pound, down 4.2 percent from 22.53 cents in May.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel Corp., Ghent, Ky.-based North American Stainless Inc. and Brackenridge, Pa.-based ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. all recently announced similar moves (amm.com, May 22).
