NEW YORK Pure Nickel Inc. chief financial officer Jeffrey Sherman has resigned effective May 31, and the junior miner has commenced exploration activities at its Man Alaska property, the company said May 23.
Sherman is leaving the Toronto-based company "to allow him more time to pursue his other business interests," the company said. Sherman was appointed chief financial officer in February 2008.
Jennifer Scoffield has been named interim chief financial officer.
Pure Nickel also announced that 2013 exploration activity at its Man Alaska property will consist primarily of a 1.37-mile drilling program utilizing one helicopter-supported drill rig.
The nickel-copper property, located 155 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska, is being explored under a joint-venture agreement with Tokyo-based Itochu Corp. Itochu currently holds a 30-percent ownership interest and can earn up to a 75-percent interest by incurring $40 million in exploration expenditures on the property.
