NEW YORK — At least two more mills have set new minimum base prices for flat-rolled steel products, according to letters sent to customers.

Portage, Ind.-based NLMK USA’s new hot-rolled coil price is $30.50 per hundredweight ($610 per ton), while its new price for cold-rolled and coated sheet products is $35.50 per cwt ($710 per ton) effective immediately, according to a May 23 letter to customers.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. also set a price of $30.50 per cwt for hot-rolled coil and $35.50 per cwt for cold-rolled and galvanized products effective immediately, according to a letter dated May 24.

The announcements come after Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel Corp.’s leading move this past week to boost spot prices on all flat-rolled products by a minimum of $50 per ton, which was followed by a number of competitors (, May 23).
