SÃO PAULO Net sales at Brazilian ferroalloys producer Cia. de Ferro Ligas da Bahia (Ferbasa) fell 11.2 percent year on year in April after it shipped lower tonnages of low-carbon ferrochrome and ferrosilicon.
Net sales stood at 57.60 million Reais ($28.2 million) last month, down from 64.89 million Reais a year earlier, the company said in a filing with the São Paulo Stock Exchange.
Ferbasa sold 18,546 tonnes of ferroalloys in April. Sales of high-carbon ferrochrome stood at 9,675 tonnes, up 8.2 percent year on year.
At the same time, low-carbon ferrochrome sales fell 38 percent from a year earlier to 1,031 tonnes and sales of ferrosilicon totaled 7,840 tonnes, down 19.7 percent from a year earlier.
