CHICAGO — Nucor Corp.’s metal building manufacturing division, Nucor Building Systems, has authorized Howard Shockey & Sons Inc. as a design/build partner, the contracting and construction management company said on its website.

Howard Shockey & Sons is kicking off the partnership with new projects for long-time clients Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and Southeastern Container Inc., it said.

The Winchester, Va.-based company will erect Nucor structures for Rappahannock’s new truck maintenance facility in Front Royal, Va., and erect a new pre-engineered metal building for Southeastern Container in Winchester, Howard Shockey vice president Jeff Boehm said in a statement.

"Metal buildings have a relative low-cost compared to traditional building types. When metal buildings are used, design, fabrication and construction times can be greatly reduced—which translates into cost savings for our clients," he said.
