JMC celebrates Sharon Tube's official opening

NEW YORK — JMC Steel Group Inc. held an official opening ceremony June 11 for its Sharon Tube Co. subsidiary in Wheatland, Pa.

Chicago-based JMC relaunched the former domestic leader in the drawn-over-mandrel (DOM) market earlier this year (, April 2).

JMC has invested $40 million in new DOM equipment to double Sharon Tube’s capacity and increase its size range. As a result, the pickle and lube line at the facility can now produce 650 tons of steel per day. Sharon specializes in A513 Type 5 and Type 6 DOM tubing and A513 Type 1 electric-resistance weld (ERW) tubing.

Industry veteran William Perrine is heading the new division (, March 12).
