PITTSBURGH — Recleim LLC, which is working to open a flagship appliance and electronic recycling waste facility in Graniteville, S.C., has hired key personnel for the operation and plans to begin the renovation and refit of a former textile plant this summer.

Recleim announced in February that it planned to invest $40.6 million in a 110,000-square-foot warehouse (, Feb. 26). The facility is expected to open in 2014.

Douglas C. Huffer, formerly chief executive officer of a chain of appliance stores, will serve as general manager; veteran facility head Bobby Robinson has been tapped as plant manager; and Mike Newcomb, who has nearly 40 years’ experience in quality assurance, will serve as quality manager.

Jeff Brown, who has worked at Benton Harbor, Mich.-based Whirlpool Corp. as well as at Minneapolis-based Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. (Arca), has been hired as account manager.
