LOS ANGELES — Cascade Steel Rolling Mills Inc., a subsidiary of Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., escaped any damage from a tornado that struck McMinnville, Ore., June 13, according to Rich Leipfert, the city’s fire chief.

"None of the Schnitzer properties" were involved in the tornado, which missed McMinnville-based Cascade Steel by about three-quarters of a mile, Leipfert told AMM.

Schnitzer is based in Portland, Ore., located about 35 miles from McMinnville.
