NEW YORK Teck
Resources Ltd. has named Ian Kilgour executive vice president
and chief operating officer effective immediately.
Kilgour, most recently
senior vice president of coal at the Vancouver, British
Columbia-based miner, has held a variety of management roles in
the mining industry over the past three decades, including
president and chief executive officer of Cia. Minera Antamina
"Ian brings a strong
track record of consistently driving results, a focus on cost
management and global experience to the (chief operating
officer) role," Teck president and chief executive officer
Donald R. Lindsay said in a statement.
Kilgour will be
responsible for all of Tecks mining operations and joint
ventures in its metallurgical coal, copper and zinc business
divisions, the company said.
Teck also announced on
June 20 the appointment of Dale Andres as senior vice president
Andres joined Teck in
1995 and most recently served as vice president of copper
strategy and North American operations. He will report to
Kilgour, the company said.
Andres succeeds Roger
Higgins, who will retire after five years at Teck and more than
35 years in the mining industry, the company said.
During Higgins tenure, Tecks copper production
grew to an annual rate of 400,000 tonnes in the second half of
2012 from some 300,000 tonnes in 2008, Teck said.
