NEW YORK Pittsburgh-based Alcoa Inc., and OJSC Rusnano
have signed a memorandum of understanding to make aluminum
drill pipe finished with an anti-wear coating, the companies
announced June 21.
The coating is expected to increase the life of aluminum pipe
by 30 to 40 percent in aggressive and corrosive drilling
environments compared to uncoated pipe.
Moscow-based Rusnano is a government-owned company tasked with
developing the Russian nanotechnology industry.
