NEW YORK — Metalico Aluminum Recovery Inc.’s operations in Syracuse, N.Y., were operating normally June 24 after fire fighters and emergency crews battled a large blaze June 22.

“There is no damage to the building. It was a debris fire in the tin pile. We have normal operations as of Monday, June 24,” Dennis Flanagan, general manager of Syracuse-based Metalico Aluminum Recovery, said.

The blaze was contained to a single pile of tin and no injuries were reported, he added.

The fire began around 2:10 p.m. Saturday and was largely extinguished by 6 p.m., according to local reports.

Metalico Aluminum Recovery, a subsidiary of Cranford, N.J.-based Metalico Inc., is a wholesale buyer of all grades of aluminum scrap products. The company specializes in aluminum deox production for direct steel mill shipment.
