Mexico's finished steel exports, imports rise

MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s finished steel exports totaled 289,200 tonnes in April, up 19.2 percent from 242,600 tonnes in the same month last year, according to Latin American steel association Alacero.

Mexico’s finished steel imports totaled 645,000 tonnes in April, up 1.3 percent from a year earlier, Alacero said, but Mexican steel consumption fell 4 percent to 1.63 million tonnes in the same comparison.
