NEW YORK — SunCoke Energy Partners LP has agreed to acquire Lakeshore Coal Handling Corp. from Beemsterboer Slag Corp. for $29.6 million.

East Chicago, Ind.-based Lakeshore already provides coal-handling and blending services to SunCoke Energy Inc.’s Indiana Harbor cokemaking operations.

"The acquisition of Lakeshore is consistent with our overall vision to grow SunCoke Energy Partners by increasing our presence across the steel value chain," SunCoke chairman and chief executive officer Fritz Henderson said.

Henderson said in a recent interview that SunCoke planned to pursue opportunities in coal handling and iron ore processing (, June 25).

The Lisle, Ill.-based company expects to complete the transaction July 31.
