NEW YORK Watts Water Technologies Inc. has opened a new foundry in Franklin, N.H., that will cast lead-free products.
The plant will support the federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act, which goes into effect in early 2014, "by enabling Watts to cast lead-free products, such as backflow prevention devices and pressure regulators, without the possibility of cross-contamination of material," the North Andover, Mass.-based company said.
President Obama signed the legislation in January 2011 (amm.com, Jan. 11).
The company, which started construction of the facility last August, serves the water quality, water safety, water flow control and water conservation markets. It did not return a request for comment.
