AMM scrap iron and steel pricing notice

Keywords: Tags  AMM price notice, scrap iron and steel prices, ferrous scrap, scrap

In light of changing market dynamics, AMM proposes to implement updates to its ferrous scrap price assessments. The aim is to accurately reflect how scrap is predominantly traded today in each region that AMM surveys.

To better reflect these changing markets, AMM proposes to suspend Consumer Buying Prices in Birmingham, the Carolinas, Detroit, Houston, New York, Seattle/Portland, St. Louis and Montreal effective Dec. 31, 2013.

AMM proposes to introduce Dealer Selling Prices (f.o.b./shipping point dealer yard) for Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, St. Louis, Texas and Montreal, as well as Export Yard Buying Prices for Seattle/Portland.

AMM also proposes to launch Consumer Buying Prices for Alabama, Arkansas/Tennessee border, North Carolina/Virginia, South Carolina and Cincinnati.

Additionally, AMM intends to suspend its complete Broker Buying Price assessment category, which currently covers Atlanta, Boston, Buffalo, Cincinnati and Detroit, effective Dec. 31, 2013.

The following table illustrates the proposed suspensions and the new assessments AMM will launch or existing prices AMM will suggest as alternatives to better represent each market. AMM intends to begin publishing the new prices on July 22 in parallel with those it intends to suspend at the end of 2013 in order to create a price history for the new categories.

If you have any questions or feedback about these proposed launches and suspensions, please e-mail scrap@amm.com before July 19, 2013.
