CHICAGO — Marmon/Keystone Corp. has installed new cutting equipment in its Charlotte, N.C., branch.

The service center purchased an Amada HFA530 CNC band saw with a 21-inch-outside-diameter capacity and a Steel Storage Systems conveyer to feed material to the saw. The fully automated saw replaces a 1992 HEM horizontal pivot band saw.

"The programmable CNC allows for increased accuracy so we can better meet our customers’ exact needs," Charlotte warehouse superintendent Tom Taucher said. The saw also features a rigid, dual-column horizontal cutting head design and a wider blade, "which have reduced cutting time by 30 percent."
