European ferrochrome benchmark falls

Keywords: Tags  ferro-chrome, charge chrome, South Africa, Europe

LONDON — The third-quarter European charge and high-carbon ferrochrome benchmark has fallen 14.5 cents to 112.5 cents per pound.

The benchmark settlement is agreed every quarter between South African ferrochrome producers and European stainless steel mills.

The quarter is seasonally weak and the 11-percent fall in the benchmark price follows a sharp drop in spot prices amid poor demand.

High-carbon ferrochrome prices fell to between 90 and 96 cents in Europe on June 28.
