NEW YORK — United Steelworkers union members at Essar Steel Algoma Inc.’s flat-rolled mill in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, have ratified a new three-year labor deal.

The two sides reached a preliminary agreement June 27 (, June 28) to replace the previous three-year contract set to expire July 31.

"This early ratification gives the business the stability it requires to survive this market cycle and provides employees, customers and suppliers with the security they need and deserve," the Sault Ste. Marie-based subsidiary of India’s Essar Group said July 8.
