Mexico’s car production, exports fall

MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s car production fell to 266,351 units in June, down 0.8 percent from the same period last year, according to domestic automotive association Amia.

The country’s domestic sales rose 6.6 percent to 83,713 vehicles in the same comparison.

However, sales were at "the same level as 10 years ago," the association said.

Exports fell 1.5 percent to 225,753 units in the same comparison.

Sales to the United States rose 1 percent year on year to 151,803 cars, those to Canada gained 58.6 percent to 23,665 units, sales to Latin America fell 15.5 percent to 26,342 cars, those to Africa decreased 23 percent to 1,517 units, sales to Europe fell 54.8 percent to 10,728 units, and exports to Asia jumped 173.6 percent to 8,862 cars, Amia added.
