NEW YORK — The House Subcommittee on Energy and Power in a 17-9 vote has advanced bipartisan legislation that would expedite the approval of natural gas pipelines.

"The (Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act) simply gives companies looking to invest in gas pipeline infrastructure some degree of certainty regarding how long a permitting process will take and brings the statute up to date given current demands for pipeline infrastructure," Rep. Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) said in a statement.
