DCM sale impact expected to be minimal, source says

NEW YORK — The U.S. trading arm of DCM Decometal GmbH is unlikely to change greatly following its acquisition by American Metals & Coal International Inc. (AMCI), according to a source at the company.

It was revealed July 10 that the trading unit will operate as AMCI Marketing and will be led by managing director Barry Gidwani, co-managing director of DCM Decometal. A formal announcement is expected when the deal closes (amm.com, July 10).

A source at the trading house told AMM on July 11 that the transition to new ownership is expected to be “pretty seamless.”

“We’ll move our contacts over to the new company, and to the end-consumer or people we trade with, it will be a nonissue,” he said. “It’s a good fit, the company we’re going to has a significant presence, and they have a large finance line so that will allow us to do more.”

American Metals & Coal International is a subsidiary of Netherlands-based AMCI Holdings Inc.
