NEW YORK — Grede Holdings LLC is expanding capacity at its NovoCast ferrous casting foundry in Monterrey, Mexico, the company it said July 15.

The expansion will help it "meet the growing demands of its automotive and heavy truck customers in the region," Grede said.

The Southfield, Mich.-based company will install a new pressure pouring system at the Monterrey foundry, boosting casting capacity to 74,000 tonnes per year from 66,000 tonnes currently, a company spokesman told AMM.

Grede expects the pressure pouring system to be installed by February 2014. There are no additional plans to expand capacity at any of the company’s other foundries, the spokesman said.

Grede Holdings was formed in 2010 through the merger of Grede Foundries Inc., Blackhawk Foundry & Machine Co., and Citation Corp. The company specializes in high-quality ductile, gray and specialty iron castings, including lost foam and high silicon molybdenum applications.
