CHICAGO Alcoa Inc. has named Roy Harvey chief operating officer of its global primary products business effective immediately, the company said July 18.
Harvey, who joined Alcoa in 2002, most recently served as chief financial officer of global primary products, the Pittsburgh-based aluminum producer said.
Harvey succeeds Robert Wilt, who was named president of global primary products effective June 1 after former group president Chris Ayers left Alcoa to become president and chief executive officer of Kansas City, Mo.-based WireCo WorldGroup Inc. (amm.com, May 16
In his new role, Harvey will oversee the day-to-day operations of New York-based Alcoas 22 aluminum smelters, nine alumina refineries and its bauxite assets in Australia, Brazil, Jamaica, Suriname and Guinea, as well as its in-development project in Saudi Arabia.
Harvey has an impressive international track record, leading complex operations in Brazil, Spain and Central America, Alcoa chairman and chief executive officer Klaus Kleinfeld said in a statement. As an experienced (chief financial officer), Roy has acute financial expertise and operational insight.
Replacing Harvey as chief financial officer global primary products is Leigh Ann Fisher, previously group controller for the global primary products business segment.
Fishers solid foundation in finance, spanning upstream and downstream businesses at Alcoa, will add valuable perspective to our senior leadership team, Kleinfeld said.
