ATI, NAS cut most stainless steel surcharges

NEW YORK — ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. and North American Stainless Inc. (NAS) have lowered their monthly surcharges on most stainless steel grades.

Ludlum, a division of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc., set its August surcharges at 63.55 cents per pound for Type 304 material, down 4.3 percent from 66.41 cents in this month; 43.78 cents per pound for Type 201, down 1.8 percent from 44.58 cents; and 88.21 cents per pound for Type 316, down 6.6 percent from 94.47 cents. The surcharge for Type 430 material, which contains no nickel, has been increased 7.5 percent to 23.01 cents per pound from 21.41 cents.

Ghent, Ky.-based NAS set its August surcharges at 63.54 cents per pound for Type 304, down 4.3 percent from 66.41 cents in July; 43.12 cents per pound for Type 201, down 1.8 percent from 43.91 cents; 88.21 cents per pound for Type 316, down 6.6 percent from 94.47 cents; and 23 cents per pound for Type 430, up 7.4 percent from 21.41 cents.
