MEXICO CITY Two people died and 12 were injured after an explosion at a Ternium Mexico SA de CV flat steel products plant in northern Mexico, the company said July 22.
Ternium said the explosion occurred Monday afternoon at its Guerrero plant in San Nicolás de los Garza, in northern Mexicos Nuevo León state.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way, the company said.
Ternium Mexico is a highly integrated steel producer with its own iron ore mines. It has an annual slab production capacity of 2.3 million tonnes and a flat-rolled steel production capacity of 6 million tonnes per year.
