Hanna Steel, American Tube Manufacturing follow HSS price hike

NEW YORK — Hanna Steel Corp. and American Tube Manufacturing Inc. have followed a $30-per-ton hike on hollow structural sections (HSS) launched by Atlas Tube Inc., a subsidiary of Chicago-based JMC Steel Group Inc., late last week.

Birmingham, Ala.-based American Tube’s hike went into effect July 22 while Hoover, Ala.-based Hanna’s increase will be effective at the end of the day July 26. Both companies said in letters to customers that orders for shipment through Aug. 16 will be price protected.

Early movers on the increase made their hikes effective July 17 and 18 ( amm.com, July 18), while Southland Tube Inc., Birmingham, Ala., and ExlTube Co., North Kansas City, Mo., said their increases would be effective at the end of the day July 26 ( amm.com, July 22).
