CHICAGO — Metal processor Sifco Industries Inc. has acquired MW General Inc. as it looks to boost its presence in the aluminum forging and commercial aerospace markets.

The terms of the deal for Colorado Springs, Colo.-based MW General, which does business as General Aluminum Forgings, were not disclosed.

The acquired company, renamed General Aluminum Forge LLC (GAF), will become part of Sifco’s aluminum forging business, expanding its capacity and broadening its customer base.

GAF supplies both the medical and military industries but primarily makes precision aluminum forgings for the commercial aerospace sector, Cleveland-based Sifco said.

"The addition of GAF meaningfully grows our aluminum forgings business and increases our aluminum product capabilities," Sifco chief executive officer Michael S. Lipscomb said in a statement.

Sifco provides forging, heat-treating, coating and welding, and supplies machined parts, including those for turbine engines. It has two businesses: forged components and turbine components services and repair.
