NEW YORK — Enbridge Inc. will build a Canadian $1.3-billion ($1.26-billion) Woodland pipeline extension in Alberta from its Cheecham terminal to its Edmonton terminal.

The 228-mile, 36-inch extension will have an initial capacity of 400,000 barrels per day, the company said.

The project is expected to start up in the third quarter of 2015, serving the Kearl oil sands project run by Imperial Oil Ltd., Calgary, Alberta, and Houston-based Exxon Mobil Corp.
