PITTSBURGH — Haas Environmental Inc., a primary services provider to the steel mill industry, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing assets of $10 million and liabilities of $50 million.

Haas, Vincentown, N.J., which filed for Chapter 11 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey Aug. 6, has six sites, three of which service steel mills, including Nucor Corp. in Trinity, Ala., and Armorel, Ark.; and ArcelorMittal USA LLC in Burns Harbor, Ind., according to its website.

The industrial cleaning services and environmental remediation company, which didn’t say what led to the decision to restructure, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Haas was granted a motion Aug. 8 prohibiting utilities from halting service due to unpaid balances. A creditors’ meeting is slated for Sept. 19.
